There is a heart that wept
For those shackled and estranged in distant lands
Torn from families and freedom
As branches ripped from parent trees
By unseen hands.
Pain of magnitude imagined only by self serving greed
The owner of another human has no care for him
How does he sleep in darkest hours
When all around him suffering overtakes his waking?
The agonies of those with darkened skin
No choice but toil forever under burning rays
No hope but death to end their days.
And yet they claimed love for neighbour as themselves
In steeple houses held high religion
But truth and power of Christ denied
Refused to share with those abused
The love of God.
God wept.
God, The God who sees
Has now released them for eternity
Into his love and warm embrace
They look upon his tear stained face
Now and forever they surely know
God wept for them.
